Mission Statement: The Office of Grants & Contracts Accounting is committed to providing exceptional customer service by ensuring compliance, transparency and integrity in the fiscal management of sponsored research.
VCU’s grants & contracts accounting office (G&C) oversees the post-award financial administration of sponsored projects. This encompasses providing financial reports to sponsored entities as well as depositing federal, nonfederal, and other externally sponsored funds. Additionally, G&C assists in interpreting policy, guidance and regulations relevant to the research administration community, provides documentation for external audit, and oversees the University’s Effort Reporting System (ECC).

Grants & Contracts Strategic Plan
Since 2022, G&C has operated under a comprehensive Strategic Plan that is updated regularly to align with VCU’s strategic initiatives to grow research. The plan allows G&C to adapt to the changing regulatory landscape and foster career development for the team.
Research Administration Advisory Board (RAAB)
Established in 2022, the RAAB provides feedback and operational insight on initiatives proposed by VCU research leadership. The board reports to OVPRI and G&C leadership and comprises of members from across the research administration community.
